• Cameron Fawns scored 77 on 18 holes at Speargrass Golf Course.

  On a VERY cold (-5 when we tee'd off from the 10th at 1pm after a long frost delay) Albert and I were determined to enjoy one last casual round in Calgary for 2014. Played quite well for not having played for a couple of weeks but eventually the harsh weather took it's toll. Found it especially hard to get feel and confidence with the driver and more so with the putter later on all bundled up in the freezing cold and wind. Hit some great shots and my putting (on the front 9) was very good as it has been for most of the later part of the season. In the end I think Albert, a former Sunshine Tour player from Sth. Africa, had me by 1 or 2. Confident my game is going in the right direction again after a poor competitive season in Alberta I'm looking forward to heading over to Vancouver for a few events over winter.
  
  Speargrass is a great, fun track, not overly long but position in the wide fairways is key for your second into some big and sloping greens. In the wind it is a much, much tougher test. The signature 16th, 17th and 18th holes are one of the best stretches of holes you will find in Calgary. One of my favourite courses in Calgary and always in great condition, even on Oct. 30th! If you haven't already played here I'd highly recommend you do so before they close after this weekend (they may have some times left?) or put it on the list for 2015.
